The lazy, hazy days of summer are definitely upon us! It may be hot, but I love summer on the Eastern Shore. I’ve filled my freezer with fresh-picked blueberries and now figs are in season! Yum!!
Did you know that vacationers have been coming to the Eastern Shore since the 1800s? In those days, visitors would hop on a bay boat for the trip from Mobile to Fairhope to enjoy the “excellent bathing, boating and fishing and the health-giving breezes from the salt water and piney woods,” according to a story in the Fairhope Courier, dated 1895.
There are great spots to enjoy those “health-giving breezes” of the Eastern Shore today, including Historic Blakeley State Park in Spanish Fort (www.blakeleypark.org) Daphne’s Bayfront Park (www.daphneal.com), the Fairhope Pier (www.cofairhope.com) or the boardwalk at the Grand Hotel (www.marriottgrand.com).
Sales Tip of the Week
Keep your yard mowed, the weeds pulled, and the flowers watered. You never know when your buyer may be driving by!
